Center City Public Charter School Stage Renovation

WHiP Architecture is currently providing architectural design services to HEP Construction on a design-build project to renovate and expand the existing Stage at the Congress Heights campus for Center City Public Charter School in Washington, DC. In May 2018, the charter school issued a single solicitation for multiple summer 2018 renovation projects, which included this need. Center City’s academic program is designed to prepare students for high school, college, and career, by providing the most comprehensive education possible while maintaining the integrity of a small school program. Center City students participate in the core academic programs of ELA, Humanities, Math, and Science. Additionally, each campus offers Enrichment courses, such as Physical Education (PE), Spanish, Art, Music, Dance, STEM, or Drama as a regular part of their schedule.

The HEP Construction | WHiP Architecture team is collaborating to meet the school’s goals for an improved Multipurpose Room Stage that is larger than existing and includes under-stage storage space as well as basic stage lighting. Working under a tight schedule, Center City requires that the work be completed between mid-June and mid-August of 2018. The finished project will serve to enhance the school’s Music, Dance and Drama Enrichment course programs.
