Haynes Public Charter School Facilities Study

Workshop for High Performance Architecture PLLC (WHiP Architecture) performed a K-12 Facilities Maintenance Study for E.L. Haynes Public Charter School in Washington, DC in 2017. On this project, WHiP Architecture and its consultants provided an assessment of and recommendations for the school’s short-, mid-, and long-term facilities-related maintenance needs at the school’s two campuses, located at 4501 Kansas Ave NW (elementary and high school) and 3600 Georgia Ave NW (middle school). This study included assessing the expected timeline of renewal and/or replacement of building elements and major equipment. E.L. Haynes Public Charter School was founded in 2004 and has a program based on nationally recognized best practices for advancing student achievement. The school’s mission is for every student of every race, socioeconomic status, and home language to reach high levels of academic achievement and be prepared to succeed at the college of his or her choice. Currently, E.L. Haynes serves grades PK-12 with 1,200 students and 220 staff members. Patrick Williams, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, Founder & Principal at WHiP Architecture, led this K-12 Facilities Maintenance Study for E.L. Haynes Public Charter School. With over 18 years’ experience in Education Architecture, Patrick has a proven record of success leading new and renovation K-12 school projects from site planning, programmatic and building design conception to document production, contract administration and closeout. His experience was instrumental in guiding and informing WHiP Architecture’s professional services on this Facilities Maintenance Study project. WHiP Architecture enjoyed its collaboration with E.L. Haynes Public Charter School, fulfilling their facility maintenance planning needs.
