Southeast Tennis & Learning Center

Washington, DC

In 2012, the District of Columbia Department of General Services (DC DGS) issued a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) to engage an architect/engineer to provide a full range of design services associated with the renovation and expansion of the SE Tennis & Learning Center. The existing facility is located at 701 Mississippi Avenue, SE, Washington, DC and was constructed in 2001. The existing facility is approximately 34,957 square feet, consists of a single-story steel and masonry-framed recreational building, two steel-framed tennis court enclosures, and exterior facilities including six tennis courts, children’s play area, and an asphalt paved parking area. The site, consisting of nearly 20 acres, is bounded by Mississippi Avenue, SE at the front elevation and Wheeler Road, SE at the east elevation. The rear of the site is bounded by a watercourse which divides the Property from the adjacent Oxon Run Park. In 2013, Patrick directed the technical proposal and Concept Design efforts which resulted in Moody Nolan being selected as the architect/engineer to design the renovation and expansion of the facility to meet the new programmatic requirements based on the client’s evaluation design concept solution included in the technical proposal.
